Born in Brooklyn, NY, she studied at Brooklyn College and then with Josef Albers at Yale. She also attended the Art Students League and Pratt Institute. Silverberg's career developed as modernism took hold and she maintained her representational focus as abstraction became the dominant movement in art. She
